Never read the books. Wasn’t lost at all. I think the new movies do a great job of adapting a sprawling, difficult book into easily digestible pieces for a movie audience.
Never watched the 84 version because it’s so campy bad. I didn’t feel like those films took the material seriously in the way that the Villaneuve films do. You don’t stunt cast Sting if you’re trying to make a serious movie.
