They could add a verse to cover this situation.
Here it is:
To the music of Hotel California.
On a dark city street, San Francisco stands, Progressive lawmakers with bills in their hands. They said, “You can check out anytime you like, But you can never close your grocery store life.”
Six months’ notice, they demand with a grin, Or face lawsuits and battles they’re sure to win. The Grocery Protection Act, their latest decree, Ensures supermarkets stay open, you see.
Whole Foods tried to escape, but they were caught, Vagrants throwing food, chaos they wrought. Emergency calls, arrests at the door, They closed Market Street, couldn’t take it anymore.
“Welcome to the Golden State,” they say, “Where grocery stores must forever stay.” In the land of palm trees and ocean breeze, Businesses struggle, caught in this freeze.
“An even better idea now,” they claim, As corporate giants play their high-stakes game. Seniors and families left in the fray, As Safeway sells land for condos, they say.
So raise a banana, let the lawsuits begin, For grocery store closures, it’s a sin. California dreaming, but reality bites, In this Hotel California of endless fights.
