You guys are some serious whiners. There is nothing wrong with the portal other than fans of the normal powerhouse schools waking up and realizing something happened in this sport that doesn’t benefit you. I think it’s great. The days of Bama, UGA, LSU stacking 4 stars on their 3 deep are over because players are no longer allowed to be held hostage by a scumbag coach who straight up lied during their recruitment. Now, the players have options and y’all can’t handle it. I absolutely love it. My team has more 4 stars on their roster than they could ever recruit out of high school because what 18 year old kid doesn’t want to be patted on the back on announcement day. However, as they mature and realize the garbage they were fed they realize there is a lot more to life. If y’all want to keep your guys then simply pay them.
You are just as vulnerable as the next school. And if you are waiting for the football superteams to suddenly stop winning and getting to the playoffs, YOU are still waiting.

Bama,
Its already happened to my team when your team took in Gibbs. Schools could stop this tomorrow by simply saying they will not let transfers play. It’s simple. You can’t deny them admission if they meet the requirements but you darn sure aren’t going to be court ordered to put them on your team or have a court ordering them playing time. We also lost several defensive starters who now start for Ole Miss. But so what? That’s the real world and if Bama and Ole Miss can lure them away then so be it. You don’t see any of the mid level or mediocre teams crying about the portal. You only see the big boys crying because this is the first adaptation to the sport that doesn’t benefit the big boys. And many of y’all simply can’t handle a more level playing field.
None of the top teams, especially SEC teams like UGA, Bama, and LSU have anywhere near the depth they had even 3 seasons ago because your backups are transferring out for playing time. That’s why Michigan was able to come in and wreck the SEC. Michigan is the same decent team they’ve been for 20 years. The difference is the SEC top tier is coming back to the pack because of the portal. Sure, these top teams get a few stars portal in that grab the headlines, ala Gibbs, but the game is won in numbers of backups who can contribute. You guys know all this because this is why the SEC has dominated for 30 years.
I think it is great that now a South Carolina, NC state, Georgia Tech, Tennesee can get a 2nd and 3rd bite at the recruiting game along with NIL. Now, that a kid who bought Kirby’s recruiting line as a 17 year old can get out if he is buried. What’s wrong with that. Kirby will still win a lot of ball games and that player can now get playing time elsewhere. The difference is the gap has tightened whcih 8s why Michigan walked it out this year. Michigan did a much better job at retaining their depth than the top SEC schools. With the Midwest consisting of only Michigan, Ohio State, and ND it will be easier to keep their kids home unlike down south where you have a major P5 school every 150 miles.
