I would watch because LSU, combined with the fact that basketball (even women's BB) is a reasonably exciting sport that is structured well for viewing as a fan.

When I say that, I'm thinking of other 'sports'... LSU had a tremendous run in Track and Field, particularly on the women's side. But I don't think I could handle sitting and watching an entire meet, just to catch the occasional sprints. Same thing for gymnastics, they are skilled to be sure, but there's multiple things going on at the same time; and you aren't sure which will be the key thing to watch.
In basketball, you can keep score and watch the clock, and you know how it's going and when your team is in good shape. Hockey and Lacross are similar, as is Water Polo and such. Soccer is weird, in that there's apparently penalty or stoppage time, so you don't even know how long it will go.

As a matter of interest or watching- I used to like basketball a lot more in the past. I loved the NBA back in the 80's, but now it's rare for me to watch even a single game. For college it's better, but I still don't watch everything like I used to. I also once cared about the Women's game (again, 80's), but now it's simply a matter of "LSU". I don't think I've watched an entire game's worth in total- let alone single actual games- since Mulkey came here.

I think a lot is that I don't like the 3 pt shot and what it's done to basketball. I used to enjoy the various strategies when every shot counted the same, when you could have a 7 ft center and it made a difference; how pushing tempo could overcome that, how motion and cuts would effect things, etc. Now, it's all about who can shoot open 25 ft jumpers the best.

edit: I'm a diehard LSU fan, but not a diehard WBB fan. I'm not going to seek out a random WBB game to watch.

I'm also not going to seek out a random college baseball game, but generally watch a lot of LSU games, and put in my share of time at the Box.
