I built one out-of and old wood burning firebowl.

Bent tubing and drilled 1/16" holes in it spaced out and stubbed out to a propane tank.

Sand under the ring holds it flat with tie wire and fire glass on top.

Not much heat but when we camp in the colder weather I will bring these larger black lava rocks and place them on the edge of the fire glass.

When they get hot they really hold heat. Radiate very well.

High wind is your enemy however.
