We didn't know that my nephew still believed. It wasn't said with malice, it was just a comment.

This is on SIL for not telling us her kid still believed in the easter bunny. We would have told our kids to be mindful of that.

It's uncommon for a 5th grader to believe in Santa and the Easter Bunny. Parents should definitely have said something to warn everyone in advance.
