I squat behind the ball and line up the ProV arrows in the general direction I think it needs to go based on the green undulation, etc., but it isn't gospel as I stand over the ball. Just helps with general orientation.
At set up I then look at the ground halfway to the hole for 3 seconds and stare at the hole for 3 seconds, then putt based on feel.
Quick process without a lot of second guessing.
ETA:
Big money putt or tournament scenario, I will do the walk around the green first to understand grain and things a bit more. But rarely. Pace of play is of ultimate importance to me generally.
