It's not made because of similar situations, but the majority of people make the comparison in response to the crowd that says "well Les won a NC, Have a GREAT day!" and shite like that. Winning a national title doesn't always mean you're a great coach.
However, this is the major difference:
Coker won it all in his 1st year, whereas Les won it in his 3rd. Les is a better coach.
