agreed but the studies dont really show issues with kidneys up to about 2g per lbs of body weight. unsettled after that.

I think the totals are probably fine, my only (subjective) concern is with dumping protein in a system (particularly if you know you have compromised kidneys) faster than it can be processed.

I think best case you excrete the excess protein in the urine. Worst case, you make a bad situation worse. Prudence is probably the order of the day. Plus, spreading out protein intake is (again, subjectively) smarter for a variety of reasons.

On the other hand, if you have no known kidney issues and you're struggling to get enough protein, this is less of a concern, IMHO.
