Cash had decent range at F#1-G5. His strengths are his low notes and his higher notes are weak due to his lack of vocal training. If he did then he would be a better singer.
Bill medley who is a bass-baritone just like Cash is the superior to not only Cash but Elvis who didn't have formal vocal training.
Why? He had vocal training that he believed he needed to further advance his career. He said that he would spend an hour warming up his voice before shows.
He probably was a good singer before vocal training but became a great singer making his voice stronger due to vocal training. Something that Cash and Elvis lacked.
