I bet the unknown guy from the prior night doesn't want to be involved because she was probably shite faced that night too and he doesn't want to be charged with rape.

While that may be true nobody in their right mind wants to be rape and death adjacent. Anyone including expert witnesses are going to loathe their time in the witness box during this trial. It is going to be a cluster frick with rotten tomatoes and grenades being tossed from all directions.
