As much as we love her, some mid-west people I deal with talk about her like she's the worst person in the world.
That's because of one thing and one thing only - how she has been framed by media using their perception of her social and political views. I'm convinced that is the issue. There is a corner of the sports media world, particularly print media journalists, that take bits and pieces of what she says (or in some cases doesn't say) or has said in the past and completely paints her with a broad brush, when I suspect based on what I hear from a lot of the commentators of the game and ex-players, is a totally mis-framed version of who this woman is. The fact that people these days can't separate political views and personal feelings is a true tragedy of the media age.

Agreed on the political broad brush take but I’m an advocate of keeping those things out of sports. Not a “shut up and dribble guy” everybody has a right to their opinion but I don’t tune in to a sporting event to know who someone is voting for or where they stand on abortion. But I digress, back to Mulkey I like the straight forward and genuine approach she has. You might not like what she has to say but she just lays it out there. Refreshing.
