National debt doesn't matter to voters now - it will eventually, but by then it'll be too late.

Look at the reactions to changing Social Security; we can't even do that without people getting up in arms.

Yeah it's the people who expect congress to honor the promise made that's the problem. Not the politicians that took money out of it. Not the endless wars that have cost us trillions. Not globalism under the guise of Free Trade that has pulled wealth out of the USA...

Nah... Just the fact that people get a little touchy over their money.
