yeah a lot of game play has evolved over the years. In season 1 Hatch was the only one actually forming an alliance and playing the game.
Season 2 had Colby dominating a lot of challenges but, of course made a crucial mistake choosing who to take to the finale.
Players started learning from those seasons and figuring out that it took being good at more than just one aspect of the game.
at some point the casting went to shite and production started getting too involved in controlling the outcome. Same with Big Brother.

I think that the Survivor and Big Brother casting issues are different, but they both need work.
With Survivor, almost everyone they cast nowadays is more interested in the idea of being on the show and being in the "Survivor community" instead of winning the million dollars. This leads to plenty of contestants completely out of their depth either physically or mentally and too many of the dorky "super fan" contestants that survivor thinks we want to see a lot of, but don’t. And almost everyone just seems to want to get on the Rob Has a Podcast circuit. These factors are what makes players like Shan, Rocksroy, Jesse, Gabler, etc. stand out in the "New Era."
I think that most of the people who apply to Big Brother are more interested in being influencers than they are of winning the money. And the show is all about growing their brand and setting up what's next, like Jared or Blue last season on Big Brother. Clearly just there so their influencer careers take off.
That's why, whenever I apply to these shows, not that I will ever get on, I emphasize I'm not applying to revive my dormant Instagram account and I have enough friends in my life, I'm here for the money.
