The most "British" island in the Caribbean. Besides beach, snorkeling, diving, surfing, etc., there are a few attractions.
- George Washington house. Worth the time. This was where Washington lived as for a bit as a teenager when his brother came to Barbados to attempt to deal with tuberculosis. The tunnels on the property relate to the British fortifications.
- Harrison's Cave. Good way to spend a couple of hours. You go through much of the cave via tram, so not that much walking.
- Rum tours. I didn't do one, but they are popular.
I spent two nights at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion and four at the Radisson. Even though the Fairmont was $1250 per night and the Radisson was $250 per night (I used points and free night certificates from the old Chase Fairmont credit card), I liked the Radisson better, because it really is on the best beach on the island.

How’s the beach and water ? Comparable to the Bahamas or Turks ?

The east side of the island gets big waves from the Atlantic, so places like Bathsheba Beach are pretty, but only popular with surfers.
Most of the population resides on the west side of the island, where the waves are gentler. Carlisle Bay, specifically the beach south of Bridgetown between the Hilton and the Radisson, is a great beach.

Some of my photos from March 2017:
At Agrofest, their equivalent to a state fair:
"Pudding and souse" is what they call this dish of sweet potatoes and pork (usually pig ears). It's good.
Carlisle Bay beach from my room at the Radisson:
Harrison's Cave:
Bridgetown is a pleasant city, though lacking in true "sights."
Inside the George Washington house:
Bathsheba Beach on the island's east side:
This was the beach at the Fairmont, still a very nice beach:
Little bird was happy to eat jelly off of a fingertip:
When you leave the island, get to the airport early and give yourself time to tour the Concorde:

We stayed at sandals in January 2024 (there are two resorts next to one another and you can’t tell the difference when you’re on property).
I was hesitant about staying at a “chain” resort but was honestly impressed and would book another. Food was good, good alcohol, and the resort offered snorkeling and other water activities as part of the package. When we snorkeled, we went to Carlisle bay, where other groups went but they had to pay.
I thought the snorkeling was “ok”. The turtles are cool, but as far as exotic or different fish, I really didnt see a ton.
I’ve been to a few all inclusive resorts, mainly around Cancun and the one major difference for sandals, is tipping wasn’t encouraged. We still did, but I feel as if the employees didn’t have that extra pep in their step as they do in Mexico.
Other than that the weather was perfect; It would rain for about 5 minutes every day around 1 o’clock and be done. So if you can go in January or February, I would recommend. we did a taxi tour of the island for a few hours and that was cool too.

No offense, but I really don't think that Barbados would be my choice for an all-inclusive.
Bajans are friendly, Barbados is safe, there aren't any touts, pickpockets, or beggars harassing tourists, and the culture is interesting.
If someone just wants to stay on a resort all the time, then I don't know why they wouldn't just go to Mexico, the DR, or Jamaica.

We chose there because the wife wanted to go somewhere neither of us had visited.
But yes, I see your point.
When I was sitting on the beach I said I coupldnt tell the difference between Barbados beach, and a Cancun beach. All the same at that point.
I also wouldn’t go again because the travel was much worse than Cancun. There aren’t a ton of flights going there from MIA or CLT daily so if you miss a connection, makes for a long day. Seemed liked those 2 airports only had 2 flights daily.
