I saw this happening 10 years ago and it has excelerated at an exponential pace. The lack of skills at major EPC's and other tech firms is eye opening to say the least.
Through retirement and others leaving out of frustration due to lack of managerial support we are in a dire situation.
No easy answers to fix this.

Credentialism has left us with a nation of people who can do one thing. Thats it. It gives people status, not skills.
Its an easy way to put promote very average people within a system, but its not fit for human growth. It pigeonholes people and stops actual skill development.
