If you do hiking or triathlons then Garmin. Otherwise Apple Watch is the best. Best sleep tracking and HR and VO2 max are more accurate then most others
I think with fitness trackers, it all comes down to personal preference and what you're looking to get out of it. I had a pixel smart watch and hated it, but others might like smart watches.
I currently use a Vivo Fit 4. The reason I selected this one is that it has insane battery life (up to a year) and is water-proof, so I never have to take it off. But personally, I just use it for tracking steps, and it also tracks sleep metrics, which is something I'm also interested in monitoring. It has some drawbacks, like being very dim to preserve battery life, but it's simple and works for me.
Depending on personal preferences I could see at least half a dozen qualifying as the "best" wearable tracker for an individuals needs.

x2 for Garmin VivoSmart. Don't have to pay for account and it tracks steps, heart rate, sleep, weather, etc. The menus are kind of annoying to cycle through but other than that I love it.
