Right.
My neighbor has chickens and their eggs just sit on the pantry shelf.
They are also amazing. They give us the surplus and they are so much better than store eggs. Deep orange yolks, great flavor, stick together in the pan so much better when cooking over-easy, etc. .
Their chickens live the life in a big yard eating bugs and whatever else. That is, until they get mauled occasionally by a fox or some other critter.
