Seems it would be easier to just throw a cam, and maybe some heads, at the 5.3 that is already in the truck. Or swap in a 6.0 from the same generation.
A crate LS3 isn't anything special.

You’d have a standard grocery getter throwing that engine in the thing. It ‘could’ be made more fun with it but you’d have to throw extra attention at the gears and transmission to get it there.
