If you just getting into cooking get a 5 gallon jamabaya rig. You could fry fish in it, cook a stew, gumbo, spaghetti, jambalaya, pastalaya, fry whole chickens. You will have to watch your temperature a little closer but you will get more use out of it than a stand alone fryer.
