Maybe you can try again on the summary for those of us who don’t do this for a living, I don’t know what an AMF is, how long a corrupted database would last, or why this would be affecting my non-5G phone

I don’t know what an AMF is, how long a corrupted database would last
in the 5g network diagram it talks to the radio and to the other backend systems. corruption of the database could affect multiple bands (4G and 5G etc)
databases can be restored in just a few minutes when they decide to do so
interestingly, SMS messages are saved so once the network is back functioning there's gonna be a lot of queued up messages going out. in some cases the reset causes old messages from like 10 years ago to finally make their way through the chute
