re: Do you know personally know someone that has absolutely no understanding of money?

I guess my excuse was I worked away from home so much, I didn’t pay attention to it. I trusted her to take care of everything. She would know how to keep just enough in the account for auto pay bills and stuff. Things like the light bill would be so far behide when come to disconnect, she would “make a deal” with them to pay so much then. After she was gone, it didn’t surprise me when the bill was several hundreds behide. It was an eye opening experience and took my trust level of anyone to basically nothing.

When I started dating a year or so later, it was almost a deal breaker how I would stress the importance of finances now. I remarried and my wife is awesome when it comes to that stuff. I look at my accounts everyday and if she needs something, she always calls or tells me “I gotta buy such and such, it’s gonna be $X dollars”. We have the money and it no problem, but I guess she does it hearing the horror story I went though with the ex…
