I would like to point out quality of most clothes have dropped. Most old clothes made in 50-70 last a lot longer than items made today. Even by same company.
A lot of warranties have disappeared.
And yet. People pay more now.
because now you can take a picture wearing it and let strangers know what you spend your money on. And get more joy out of what other people know we own. Than the joy we just get actually owning it.

It's weird how long some older clothes have lasted compared to newer clothes. Jeans are where I see your point the most.
