So proud of the kid. He worked Friday and Saturday with my buddy in his shop to get the tribute bench built (Part 1 of his project). He learned how to weld (something I've always wanted to do but never have), work the chop saw, and lots and lots of grinding. My buddy, did all the welds that needed to be "pretty" but the kid did the rest. It meant a lot more grinding, and more bee holes than a hive. But to quote my friend, "Your son worked his guts out." I can't always get him motivated at home but when he's working for others he flips a switch. I was so proud of him. He loved the welding.

We reached out to a local rod company this week. The owner just called and offered to do all 30 rods! The kid got invited to speak at a the banquet of a local Anglers group next week. Everything is coming together.
