So it’s what, 5 lbs to 1 peeled lbs at the store, something along those lines. Why is my local grocery store able to sale, local, from Mamou crawfish for $9.99 peeled, but $9.99 a lbs with the shell, live?
It’s more like 12/1 or 13/1. The tails you see if from Louisiana have been frozen since last May. When you open the bag you can smell them and they’ll be hard when cooked.
Salt water intrusion along the coast affects fields that pump water from bayous or other surface areas. Those fields have never been flooded since last summer. Rains we got lately will probably have no effect on any kind of supply for this year. They’ll plant rice in another week if they have enough fresh surface water now.

Another thing- I see ads for frozen boiled crawfish from Egypt. It’s Chinese crawfish repackaged to get around tariffs. The buffets with crawfish are using this.
