I grew up in that area during the same time. My friend and I did yard work for our neighbor. She paid us by bringing us to Big Scoop Ice Cream. Also remember Coopers would make doughnuts the day after Tulane/LSU in the winning teams colors. We were lower middle class but didn’t realize it. Lots of good times in that neighborhood.
