Because of what I realised: when you are sober, you start to see how annoying your friends are when they drink, which makes you not want to hang around with them at social events where they are drinking. That, in turn, leads to uncomfortable situations when they confront you about why you are always skipping out early.

There will also be a few who try to convince you to "just have one drink" until you finally convince them that you don't drink anymore and won't drink.

The only ones who haven't pushed alcohol on me were family and my oldest friends I grew up with.

I have stopped hanging out with a lot of my friends from my drinking days because I figured out we weren't really friends, we were just drinking buddies.
