I'm not sure if a black actress has played Elphaba, but when I saw the show on Broadway, a black girl played Glinda and was excellent.
Cynthia Errivo is a seasoned Broadway performer and is more than capable of handling the role. I'm more concerned about Ariana Grande's acting abilities.

And in both of the roles it makes no difference what their skin color is. One is green and the other is a popular and pretty princess type girl.
