His dad was a great runner in his prime and just missed making the 04 team in the marathon.

It has been fun watching those distance guys the last couple of years. My daughter is a high school sophomore now at Vestavia and does sprints and relays, and those guys on their 800/1600s are great. Several run XC as well and will do the 1600/3200 at the track meets. Of course Hoover runs away with the team scores since they have so many athletes in every event, but Vestavia does very well in anything that isn't a sprint.
