LSU License Plates in Texas - Update

I got an email regarding LSU license plates in Texas yesterday. If this is Germans, Ich entschuldige mich.
Production has finally begun! Our long wait is about over. When the TDoT notified us that the minimum requirement had been revised down from 1900 (an organization's minimum requirement) to 1500 (a university's requirement) and we had accumulated over 1100 paid orders to date, the decision was made to finance the production of our specialty plates. Last week a refundable deposit of $8000 was mailed to TDoT and this week, preparation for the stamping of prototype plates has been made through LSU Licensing Dept. and TDoT.
Since this deposit was financed through a personal loan by one of our state alumni, we will continue to market the plates until we reach our goal of 1500 at which time the deposit will be refunded. Once TDoT has established our school on it's website, we will alter our order forms on both Houston and Dallas websites to allow purchasers to order directly from TDoT. Once changed to the new order forms, you can order personalized specialty plates as well which will count toward our requirement.
With the short production and delivery times now established, these plates would make great Christmas gifts for family and friends. We've had several alumni statewide who have purchased for parents or siblings and this is one Christmas gift they can use 365 days of the year! Just use either of the two order options on our chapter website, www.lsualumnidallas.com, and get your orders posted asap. We are sending our order spreadsheets to TDoT next week and first in, first out (FIFO!)
Isn't it going to be neat to see all those LSU specialty plates with TEXAS on all the cars that will be attending our crawfish boil this coming April 18th? Don't you plan on yours being one of them? We certainly hope so!
Without the generosity and assistance of the LSU alumni and fans statewide, we couldn't have accomplished this. Now we have less than 400 needed to reach our goal and let TDoT continue to manufacture LSU specialty plates from 2009 on. (The first plates will be arriving in February, 2009.)
Now that we are assured of obtaining the LSU plates, any and all questions can be addresses to John Pierce at membership@lsualumnidallas.com and will be promptly answered. Your continued participation is vital to the completion of this project. Thanks for your continued support in helping to turn a dream into reality!
Geaux Tigers!
