$1200 is going to be upper lever entry. I got a Smith & Wesson 5.56 for less than $600 and have bought additional uppers from Palmetto for around $300.
$1200 would get you a ready to go rifle and 2 more uppers and you would have 3 different guns.
5.56 rifle + 6.5 Grendel for deer/hogs + 300 BO for subsonic/suppressed shooting.
