Ever read the "dissertations" of some of those social sciences or education majors? It won't take you long. I've seen some that were 25 pages of crap. One dude wrote about people in Austin who liked to go cruising in their cars in the 1990's. My engineering MS thesis was 235 pages of math and graphics.
What is a social science doctorate supposed to write about? They aren't studying math, so they obviously can’t write about that.

There is certainly a lot of fluff in the social sciences, but educational research features some of the most sophisticated quantitative methodologies out there. If anyone wants to question the rigor or scientific validity of it, I encourage them to give one a read and see if you can understand it without having an advanced degree in math or statistics.
Even on the qualitative side, there are plenty of people doing valuable work to understand society and culture and how it relates to education. Their dissertations certainly aren’t 25 pages long and probably feature much greater depth and innovation than some master’s degree dweeb proving they understood their field.
