Total delete is the best way to go but, very costly if you are farming out the work. The cylinder heads and front of engine have to come off.
I would have that function tuned out and change oil regularly.
Now, if you buy a DOD vehicle that has a cam/lifter failure, it makes sense to do the complete delete kit.
Many places have delete kits if you choose to go that way.
