Wife (no pics) and I had to make this choice at the start of this school year. Son entered 7th grade form a well-regarded public elementary school (despite being in a Title I district). Went for the tour at a local private boarding school (world renowned school). Hemmed and hawed over sending him and let him start the year at the public middle school. He lasted 3 days before he said, "I want out." Bit the bullet, pulled him out and sent him to the private school (they started 2 weeks later) and it's the best thing we've ever done for him. He's thriving in that environment. I'll never send him back to public school.

I should also mention that 3 guns and 6 knives were confiscated from students at the public middle and high schools within the first week of classes along with several racial fights (black vs Hispanic).
