I don't quite understand the outrage.
NFL has been doing this for years.
As an example, not every carrier (Direct TV, Dish Network, Cox cable, xfinity, over the air, etc.) automatically carried the NFL network on their standard packages without an upgrade. Many years ago, ESPN wasn't available without an upgrade to a standard package.
Now with everyone "cutting the cord" you have a different type of service which is unique with their programming.
Either pay for it or go to a bar that will be carrying it.
Also I thought everyone game up the NFL years ago.

NFL network was basically a paywall station at its inception. You had to pay additional to get it. When your team's game was on NFL network you had to pay extra to watch, like buying a boxing match on HBO.
