The NLI contains an attendance requirement - the player has to attend the school for a full academic year. However, apparently the player can request a release after a full semester and it must be granted by the school.

I’m not 100% sure how this works in practice. I think this means that a player can enter the portal during the spring window but can’t get released from their NLI (and thus can’t legally be contacted by other schools) until after the end of the semester.
