2024 Australian Open Thread. by lsupride87Yeh saying high school is too broad The top 10 in 14s could beat them The top 40 in 16s could beat them The top 100 in 18s could beat them

Gauff and Sabalanka are 12.90 plus UTR.

No 1 boy in USTA 14s is a 10.40. Most below him in boys 14 are below that UTR ranking. Can’t see them beating either.

Boys 16 USTA no 1 and Boys 18 No 1 are 12.18 and 12.10.

Boys 16 - theres a drop off after top 20 in UTR. These too 16s kids could certainly play with the female pros. Maybe get a few wins. But women would win more than not.

Boys 18 - they have lower UTRs than the top women. But I’m sure the top 40 guys can all play with the top women and can get wins. But I don’t think it’s a certainly the boys would win them all the time. (Against top 5 women).

UTR

I’m not super familiar with how that works. Is it designed for that purpose (comparing levels of players who would generally never face each other)? Are there examples of women and men with a similar UTR playing “official” matches against each other?
