Going into rebuild mode with Allen for a couple of years makes a lot more sense because your next hire would actually have a chance.

Problem is how much input do you give Allen in the rebuild? I’d argue if you have a plan with a new guy to rebuild he obviously has assurances of his security for a few years while you undergo the rebuild.

If Dennis is part of the rebuild he’s still going to want input in his “vision.” If you’re not giving him that then what’s the point of having him around

Guess it's the whole chicken & egg thing. If what underhill is reporting has some merit, and they will be purging some of these players/contracts; the quality of the team will suffer because you will be replacing them with a lot of minimum contracts and undrafted players. And due to the cap constraints, no coach would be able to really go after their vision.

So, do you let DA continue to drive this team into the ground knowing that any coach will struggle due to the cap constraints? Or do you bring in a hungry coordinator and bet on him knocking it out of the park while also knowing that because of the shitty situation you could neuter any future HC opportunity for him?
