Let’s not forget one of our greatest who tore the Irish a new arsehole and should have been a Heisman winner :
Bert Jones
Recognized as such in two articles in Sports Illustrated as I recall and still remember Bert’s greatest game in Tiger Stadium like it was yesterday even tho it’s been about 50 years: multiple touchdown passes to cousin Andy Hamilton in a 28-8 victory over Notre Dame. Far and away the loudest game in Tiger Stadium history even with a capacity at the time of just 70,000. SI ran a separate article on the stadium atmosphere called “The Noise”.
