Was going to be my suggestion. It's about 7.5 hours though.
But a fair bit to do. There's lake activities, decent restaurants, magic springs, bath houses and breweries, etc.

It's really not feasible to drive 6-8 hours for a long weekend kind of trip like this, especially with kids. It sucks to spend that much time driving and such little time having fun.
