As the former Allied powers begin their occupation of East and West Germany, the Western democracies and the Soviet bloc create programs and agencies to counter perceived threats. India's independence from British rule showcases a desire for Cold War non-alignment. China and French Indochina become open battlegrounds for communist insurgencies. Meanwhile, Roswell, New Mexico becomes an early example of US government disinformation and Cold War paranoia after debris from a flying object is found on Mac Brazel's ranch. A UFO? A weather balloon?
