Kok ran them out of business

Although KOK is far better than Hooters, I doubt this is the case.
Smitty's may have had more of an effect on Hooters before it closed. Closer in proximity and much better wings.
Hooters was antiquated and inconsistent.
Twin Peaks has great wings too, and the same atmosphere. Their influence on it can't be discounted...

I won't go into details but it's less of what you think and more of a culmination of other things. People want to jump on the bandwagon of us not being a healthy franchise and it is the exact opposite

back in the day, Hooters was the only place I can remember in Lafayette to get wings. Not long after BWW, WingStop, and Twin Peaks entered the market which affected Hooters. Smitty's opened around 2014 and had a great atmosphere with solid wings and burgers. Pretty sure Craig's lease had expired during the COVID time (2020) so he moved to the old, vacant KFC on Amb Caffery. 4 months after Smitty's shut down for good, Craig passed away as he was 61 yrs old. Good dude as I miss Smitty's.
