And plenty of vets that know how to work the system because their wounds aren’t visible. “I can’t sleep at night” “I get startled multiple times a day” “my anxiety is so bad that I can’t work”. Etc. etc. And they’ll get thousands per month for the rest of their lives when they sleep soundly at night with no startling, no anxiety at all.

One thing you can’t argue with, though, is the high suicide rate for veterans. The military is obviously doing something wrong. To me it seems they are careless with the young people who are in it (getting into conflicts that aren’t absolutely necessary for our defense, sexual assaults of females just to name a few), and then just toss money at the problem vs really investigating what’s going wrong.
