I think you need to look in the mirror. Relating to a tragedy with personal memories of the departed is 100% normal. The person is simply sharing how they remembered the departed, not making anything about themselves.

RIP Rahim Alem. I PERSONALLYenjoyed watching him as I was former walk-on DE at LSU years ago. This is awful news.
