You wouldn’t even be able to manufacture EVs without it. The plastic, rubber coating on wiring, tires- all made with oil. Even if you could upgrade the grid to all renewables where that many EVs can charge without using fossil fuel generated power.

You need oil for lubricants. Electrical grid components like transformers, high voltage capacitors, fluorescent light ballasts, and some high voltage switches and circuit breakers all use an insulating oil.

PVC pipe- made from oil.

Items made from petrochemicals -plastics, soaps and detergents, solvents, drugs, fertilizers, pesticides, explosives, synthetic fibres and rubbers, paints, epoxy resins,flooring and insulating materials, solar panels, and wind turbines.

What about heavy construction equipment? Farming equipment? There’s no electric technology to run a combine for 18 hours straight while you try to beat a rain to harvest your fields. You need diesel.

Eliminating fossil fuels means a return to how life was around 1800. You can’t even have electricity without oil because you can’t manufacture the components to generate it. We would be back to living in wooden homes with candlelight and riding horses and farming with a mule and plow and harvesting by hand without any pesticides or herbicides.

So tell me, will 8 billion people go along with this because a few hundred people decided it was good idea? Or just decide to eliminate the few hundred before it gets that bad
