Transfer Portal Watchlist
I don't understand where everything thinks we will get all these scholarships from
85 cap (assume we are already here)
17 leaving
26 commits
13 wants in portal
85-17+26+13=107 scholarships out.
You can adjust the numbers a little either way but we'd need another 15-20 kids hit the portal for this to work.
I looked at your numbers and did some research myself and read some articles related to LSU's current roster.
Per 247 2023 composite talent rankings, LSU was at 80 scholarships to start fall camp in August. So you can also subtract the 5 confirmed guys in the portal and that brings you to 75. As of 5 December, Bryan Lazare reported that LSU had 67 players with eligibility remaining. That was before McGohan went to the portal so that number is now 66 (assuming the 67 number was the correct count).
So starting from 66, lets assume Harris and Chestnut are not next year then 64 and Nabers and Thomas go pro that is down to 62.
Williams (6th year senior) and Diggs, do they both come back?
Turner III and Martinez both have eligibility, do both come back (I doubt it since they are both Centers)
Wingo?
Frazier and Burns both went through SR day (both are 4th year JRs) and thus graduating in spring.
So for the sake of discussion, lets say Diggs is back (Williams will likely have his MBA by the spring), 1 of the Centers comes back, Wingo goes pro as does Frazier.
So 4 of the 7 above leave, that brings us to 58 before any other portal transfers out.
So we could sign 27 HS (not portal in guys) and be at 85.
I think there will be more portal transfers, 5 at least maybe up to 7?
