I've lost multiple friends and acquaintances to suicide already. There's a mental health epidemic going on, especially with men. But since it's men, nobody cares, or if someone does care they are shouted down as part of the patriarchy or some other BS like that.

How many men refuse to seek help for their mental health because of societal pressure to suck it up buttercup?

Sadly true. I had a discussion with my nephew, who was struggling in a relationship. Had to give him a real talk. When you're in a relationship, her problems are now your problems and your problems are your problems. Told him that if he needed help, real help, he would have to seek it himself.

I think this is part of it. Parents tend to listen to their daughter's emotions more than their sons.

If a guy wants to frick up his life, society often lets him. If a girl does, her family and friends tend to be there to stop it, or at worst some desperate man is willing to deal with her crazy bs.

My friends who are gone from either OD or Suicide all tended to have a self-destructive streak in them that at times could be seen as fun-loving and not the cry for help that they likely were. It is stuff that loved ones ignored until it was too late.

The most messed up self-destructive girls I knew who lived as fast as any of us, all now have kids and a nice husband or are still living off of dad. The Highwaymen sung about this phenomenon ages ago
