So many of them at Lowes use a remote control to operate them and the remote or the receiving unit are crap. 3 out of 4 we have, have had issues.
You can remove the receiving unit and wire directly and it will work but no reverse. I bought a wall switch to control the speed on the fan, but reverse won’t work unless there is a switch on the fan.

Also, the lights on all those you put up there suck.

I wasnt aware of that but thats a good point. For us, we never use reverse. Just always have them firing down. Warm weather use only ,.

I honestly dont care. I am not sure we will use the light and we dont want any kind of hanging light globes or anything. All of our rooms have ample recessed lighting. The only place that I know I want a light on the fan is on the lanai. The fan will be close to my outdoor kitchen and any amount of extra light will be helpful. I will probably end up having more recessed lighting over my kitchen but I do want the fan to have a light on it.

I dont want a hand held remote. I plan on mounting remotes on the wall. Something like this
