I sell MRIs so here are some thoughts on MRIs and in the BR area in general:
1. 70cm gantry is the largest bore on the market for 1.5 and 3T. Siemens has the shortest magnets, which allows for more head out exams. Lower back studies and down towards the feet, your head will be out of the MRI.
2. Open (C-shaped)magnets have a face space of 54cm so if you’re doing a neuro study in a head coil, good luck.
3. Open magnets take way too long for a study and the images suck. I would never suggest anyone doing a study on an open MRI. I used to sell them.
4. Siemens magnets are the fastest in terms of study times and provide the best images. Siemens markets share in the U.S. is about 65%.
5. Most tricked out MRI in BR is at BR General Bluebonnet. Really nice. Woman’s, The Lake, Lake Childrens and Ochsner all have Siemens MRIs. The Lake and Ochsner have the newest magnets and are the fastest of the bunch.
