Randy Seal is the 12 year(3 term) incumbent, while Jason Smith is a cattle rancher and former military veteran. Smith led in the primary voting with 42% of the vote to Seal's 34%.

The sheriff lost the court case he brought against Smith. He sued Smith for unpaid taxes on the sale of meat sold from his ranch.

The suit drew the attention of Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture Mike Strain, who argued in a letter of support to Smith that farm products sold by the farmer are exempted from sales tax.

Good. Washington Parish continues to levy taxes in clear violation of the law.

Didn't Seal throw his support behind the solar farms?

I'm a resident and most people I know are voting for Smith. I am. I think Randy is done.
